Dean Lecoq
Dean is an avid painter and currently works as a casual staff member for Games Workshop, where he's developed a passion for teaching other hobbyists the ins and outs of painting. He has been featured several times in White Dwarf, and has previously judged GWs Best in the West and the 2017 SHO painting competitions and will again be the judge for the 2018 painting competition. He has also recently attended and participated in Golden Demon Classic, held in the UK, walking away with a Golden Demon in the Warhammer 40,000 Squad category and a bronze in the Duel Category. There was high praise from participants of Dean’s two workshops at the 2017 Southern Hemisphere Open and this year he is back offering 3 workshops!
Ghislaine Platell
Ghislaine, formally of Games Workshop Morley, has 13 years experience in miniature painting and has received multiple painting awards including finalist pins at the last two Australian Golden Demons, first place at the state finals for Armies on Parade and most recently, first place in the Best in the West staff category. She enjoys modulating her style of painting to suit the project, precise and delicate or fast and effective – and she loves to teach which is fantastic because Ghislaine will be running 3 workshops at SHO!
Shane Breadsell
Greetings citizens! I am Shane and I work at Games Workshop Morley, as many of you probably already know. Collecting the models and following Warhammer lore are my favourite parts of the hobby, though I've done a fair share of every other aspect too! My collection of trophies dating back as far as the early 2000's are relics I willI always cherish and are a testament to the old competitive side of my younger self. I've been collecting Warhammer for 22 years now which all started with a single Space Crusade Genestealer I was given to me by a friend. From that day on it's been a relentless advance into the worlds of Warhammer and I've never looked back for even a second! I love sharing my knowledge with everyone and helping hobbyists to get the most out of their own hobby! Everyone's hobby journey is different so I'm always discovering new ways to help people, which is why this year I'll be running a session on green stuff basics. It can be a tricky time working with the stuff so we will focus on getting your handling of it improved to the point we can create modifications and gap filling for your own conversions. I look forward to meeting more of you soon! Hobby on!
Mark Van Aarde
My name is Mark van Aarde, and I have been a miniature painter for almost 7 years.
I got into this wonderful hobby when we moved to WA from South Africa in 2012.
My background is that of a graphic designer, so art came naturally to me, that does't mean my initial minis were very good!
I have strived to improve my techniques, focusing on smooth transitions and emphasis on lighting and the effect it has on miniatures. I hope that my glazing, blending and shading techniques can help you take your painting to the next level, and continue on this wonderful journey of art and miniatures
